We’ve always been very proud to play an active role in the Nottingham student community, with many of our colleagues having studied at either the University of Nottingham or Nottingham Trent University.
This term has certainly been a busy one, including being shortlisted for graduate recruitment awards, running our DMA academy and a few visits to the classroom, with several Hallamers delivering in-person presentations and lectures.
The Digital Marketing Academy
For three years, we’ve been proudly collaborating with both Nottinghamshire universities to deliver the Digital Marketing Academy (DMA) to students, which enables them to gain an understanding of the various areas of digital marketing and expand their knowledge of the sector and the skill set needed.
So, we were really chuffed for our work with the DMA to receive an award nomination at the National Graduate Recruitment Awards!
Aga Kelly, Business Services Consultant for Cultural, Creative and Digital, and Local Community Engagement, NTU, said: “Together with UoN, we put in a joint nomination for the AGCAS Award for Excellence in Careers Service Engagement at the National Graduate Recruitment Awards. We nominated Hallam and Impression for your continued support to the development and delivery of the DMA. Congratulations on being shortlisted from all of us and now we will be keeping everything crossed…”
Ben Wood, Strategy Director and leader of the DMA, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the DMA as it gives students from any degree the opportunity to gain an understanding of the multitude of areas that digital marketing covers, whilst also gaining an extracurricular qualification in the industry before they graduate. This award is a testament to everyone’s combined hard work in delivering the DMA and to support the digital marketers of the future.”
Back to the classroom
One of the ways we work closely with the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University is by providing lectures across a variety of topics.
Recently our CEO, Julio Taylor, delivered a lecture to masters students in Marketing at the University of Nottingham.
His first in-person live event since before the start of the pandemic, Julio spoke all about the value of empathy and how it plays such a vital role in the future of marketing.Elsewhere, our Head of Creative, Al Davies, shared his knowledge and experience with Nottingham Trent University students, studying their Masters in Marketing and Brand Management.Al’s session focused on brand creation, exploring brand storytelling and how having something to tell – and telling it well – is the ultimate key to building long-lasting connections.
Hallam and 3DI
Earlier this year, we also announced our latest collaboration with the University of Nottingham’s 3DI. 3DI was initially launched by UoN’s Faculty of Social Sciences, with the aim to advance Nottingham’s existing strength in a variety of sectors including financial services, legal services and digital and creative services via research in data science and digital technology. Collaborating with us means that the 3DI initiative can now further connect UoN’s students to industry experiences.
From intern to employee, our Paid Media Specialist, Simran Harichand, began her journey at Hallam through an internship programme run by 3DI before being offered a full time role in the Paid Media team.
Simran said: “This internship allowed me to experience corporate life in a UK workplace. As an international student, it is often the fear of fitting in that held me back. Hallam’s work culture, however, was inclusive and welcoming; I was treated like an important part of the company and my opinions and suggestions were given consideration. By the end of the internship, I gained numerous skills. I knew how to conduct market research, and I gained confidence in my work. “
Hallam has been working with the universities in Nottingham for several years creating opportunities for students and graduates. Feel like you could be the right fit? Get in touch with us here.
