Hallam Cares
We exist to do good work, with good people, that gets real results. At the same time, we believe there is a better way to do business. One that balances the needs of people and the planet with the desire to make a decent profit.
This belief guides the actions we take when it comes to taking care of our employees, supporting the community and evolving the type of clients we work with.
Hallam becomes a B Corp™
Values aren’t just something you write on the wall. They’re something you live and breathe each day.
That’s why we became a B Corp™, joining a growing group of businesses around the world who want to use business as a force for good in the community.
Following a rigorous vetting process that looked at five key areas across the business, we were thrilled to get certified on our first attempt – proving that we’ve met the highest standards of social and environmental performance.
That’s not to say we’re perfect. B Corp™ is a great framework that outlines the initial steps to take, but for us, they’re just the first steps on our journey to doing business better.
Bringing your whole self to work
From health and wellbeing to diversity, equity and Inclusion, from sustainability to corporate social responsibility, Hallam Cares gives our team the time and resources to match their personal passions and values with initiatives that impact the wider community and the planet.
We partnered with Nottingham Trent University on DE&I research, policy updates and an action plan for improving diversity at Hallam. This led to an industry-leading DE&I report in collaboration with The Agency Collective.
The Future of Work is hybrid
Work should exist to make home life better, not the other way around. That’s why we hire the best people, wherever they choose to live.
We believe in the freedom to choose. Since 2020, we chose that our staff could work from anywhere and we give our team what they need to do their best work.
A better way of doing business.
In 2021 Hallam was awarded B Corp status, which means we’re independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
Together, we are shifting our economic system from profiting only the few to benefitting all, from concentrating wealth and power to ensuring equity, from extraction to regeneration, and from prioritising individualism to embracing interdependence.
Time to thrive
One of the ways we invest in our team is by giving them Thrive Time – two days each month that they can set aside for learning and professional development, involvement in innovation projects or participate in our employee engagement platform, Hallam Cares.
Education, education, education
We’re proud to support and develop the futures of the brightest young talent.
We frequently work with both universities in Nottingham, as well as schools and colleges across the region, where we hold workshops and discussions. We were also one of the founding agency members of the annual Digital Marketing Academy (DMA) – the first industry experience programme co-delivered by Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, designed to address the high-level digital skills gap.
Giving back to our local community
Our roots are firmly in Nottingham, and we’re proud to be part of such a vibrant community of businesses, universities, charities and agencies.
Over the years, we’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities in the Nottingham area, including Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum, The Samaritans of Nottingham, Framework and many others.
Partnering with Emmanuel House
For 2022 and 2023, we’re proud to partner with Emmanuel House as our charity of the year. We’ll be supporting their vision of raising over £1M to build emergency accommodation for homeless and vulnerable adults through fundraising, pro bono marketing support and volunteering at the shelter.
